Eustress is a type of stress that is considered healthy and gives a feeling of fulfillment. Even though this type of stress is considered to be a positive motivation in life, it still has a taxing impact on our bodies and accumulates in nature. For this piece, a stream of consciousness journal was recorded once a day for fifteen days. This journal acted as a catalogue of my stress and was converted into a map networking the objects of my stress. The installation was hung in the Fine Arts Library at the University of Florida.
Each day was developed into a column and LED lights were connected to the objects of my stress. On a nearby table, there were ten boxes that contained library cards titled with the suggested objects of stress. The interactive design of the piece allowed for its participants to open a box to read about the objects of stress. When the box is opened, the lights on the columns would turn on and reveal to the participant where these stresses were occurring over the fifteen days. This piece was designed to give a visual interpretation, through its tensed columns and cluster of wiring, of the pressures that were in my life and how I internally dealt with them.
